TESTIMONIAL 1:
I am a parent of 3 children. 1 has left Thrunscoe now and attends secondary school whilst 2 are still present at Thrunscoe.
Thrunscoe Primary and Nursery Academy is the most amazing place! Both my children love school. They never get Monday blues, infact it's quite the opposite. They love being there.
My eldest child is in year 6, one of which I would say is the most hardest years of all from memory of my school days. This is not the case for him. My son's teacher, Mr Howard, needs an award he is incredible. My son comes home on a daily basis telling me everything he has learnt and how fun it's been learning about it. The information he retains because of the way he is taught if phenomenal. When he was in year 4 he did two rounds of Compass Go for anxiety. The teachers went above and beyond to support him and now he is a different child; filled with confidence in his learning. Mr Howard believes in him and with that my son now believes in himself. As a parent this fills me with pride.
My daughter is currently in year 3 and is experiencing some difficulties with her reading and writing. Mr Moss, her teacher, has been fantastic in supporting this; he has gone above and beyond putting in extra support and coloured overlays to help her. He is always checking in with myself and my husband when we collect her at the end of the day.
Learning aside, Thrunscoe gives the children the most amazing experiences. The school trips, residential stays, plays, concerts, fairs and bingo nights to name a few.
My children have never experienced any form of bullying and have always been encouraged to share their feelings with friends and teachers.
The range of after-school activities are like no other. There's something for everyone and these run all year round.
My son loves playing football and plays for a local grassroots team. This is also extended in school. It was only recently I received the most heart touching advert that he had made (football related). Again this is another prime example of how the children's interests are brought into learning.
I would and have recommended Thrunscoe to many parents. There is no other school on this planet that I would want my children to be at.
So from the bottom of my heart Thank you and good luck. You have and always will be outstanding in my eyes
TESTIMONIAL 2:
To Mr Bate and all his staff at Thrunscoe Academy.
I wanted to put this email together to congratulate you all on being such a part of a wonderful School and to say a big thank you .
My Granddaughter transferred to your school in June and started in year 1 . She is now in Poseidon Class and really loves school. My Grandson started Nursery in September and equally loves school.
I bring the children to school daily and pick up most nights and have seen such good practice everywhere I look .
You (as head )are always around greeting children and parents and noticing what is going on . I was even amazed to see you on gate locking duty at 8.50 today. ! Even more impressed that as speaking to you , you knew my Granddaughter had come from Yarborough etc !
Poseidon Class , the children are greeted at the door by staff ( armed with a notepad to write any parents concerns down ) and there is always something on their desks to get straight down to work with the whiteboard fully loaded too. Such good practice . Lovely teachers too I might add.
As I take my Grandson around to Nursery every classroom door has the teacher or TA there to say hello etc lovely.
The Office staff too are very kind and helpful.
Thank you all so much for giving my Grandchildren such a good start to their education .
TESTIMONIAL 3:
Hello,
I'd just like to send you a message to say how wonderful Thrunscoe is as a school. Please share this will all the staff members.
Wow!!! When I sent my first child to the school, I was worried about what to expect. We aren't a conventional family and he has a lot of issues. Thrunscoe has simply surpassed all my expectations!!!
From providing my children with support through the wellbeing staff, who are approachable, friendly, kind and have your child's best interest in mind and heart, to the teachers and teaching assistants that have always listened to both my child's and our concerns and worries, to the fantastic admin staff who offer help with a friendly smile, the staff at Thrunscoe are exceptional!
My youngest now attends reception and it's been clear from the beginning that he wasn't going to cope in the main room so the nursery lead offered the opportunity for him to attend in a smaller classroom with other children with similar needs. The staff their have been nothing but supportive in helping both my child and us as a family. My son has recently received an autism diagnosis and though we knew it was coming it has still been difficult to process, again the nursery lead and his class teacher have been such wonderful supports!!
This school celebrates difference and diversity, it supports and nurtures both it's pupils and their parents. It's been a wonderful experience having my children attend Thrunscoe and I will be sad when their time here comes to an end but I will be confident that Thrunscoe will be sending them off with confidence, resilience and strength as well as a good knowledge and understanding of the curriculum.
I genuinely cannot thank or praise them all enough for everything they do, they're all superheroes in my eyes.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and I look forward to working with you in the new year to continue helping my children thrive.
TESTIMONIAL 4:
Hi there and I hope you are well
I just want to note, on record, some observations since I became involved in Thrunscoe last year.
I was Welcomed and given a tour of the building as part of my induction by Mr Bate, the head.
Several things impressed me on my initial visit-
- the fact the Mr Bate knew every pupil and could tell me something about them all, without exception
- the way the children responded to seeing Mr Bate, clearly a head with his finger on the pulse of his school
- the regard for staff and their welfare- it must be a lovely place to work as well as learn.
- the ambition for the school and the physical changes and growth that were ear marked with funds put aside to enable this to happen and enhance the learning experience of all pupils.
- the wide range of facilities in existence, from sport to dance to academic resources, there was so much on offer
- the level of organisation- tight administrative functions usually means a really well organised and well run school
- every child I met was polite, well engaged and appeared to be having their needs met.
- I was pleased to see how the school was an anchor in the local community, enabling other local provisions such as the Trin youth centre to use its facilities and vice versa.
It has been a pleasure and I am proud to be able to offer some of my varied experience of working in a regulated sector to the school and I look forward to being part of its ongoing successes.
TESTIMONIALS FROM 2024 PARENT SURVEY:
What you do well ... PRACTICALLY EVERYTHING! In my particular case, children's welfare is exceptional. The standard of education is excellent. All the staff of the Academy goes above and beyond for the children. Parent/carers are also supported when needed as I have been many times. All I can say is thank you for all you do.
What you do well ... Making sure my child is happy and giving them any extra support, in any subject that is needed. All 4 of my children that have attended Thrunscoe over the years have always enjoyed going in every day. My daughter that left last year, really didn't want to go up to secondary school and wanted to stay at Thrunscoe. She pops by regular after she's finished school to say hi to the teachers. She misses the academy very much.
What you do well ... I find the Academy inclusive and accepting of children’s differences. Children are encouraged to be themselves and are supported emotionally and academically.
What you do well ... Liaising with me about my son’s behaviour and development, what needs to improve and what we can champion. This makes it so much more possible to mirror his behaviour and talents at home. This school is fantastic and has always had my son’s best interests at the core of everything they do. The staff are incredibly supportive and great with communication. I have never felt judged and always feel understood as a parent when speaking with the school.
What you do well ... Helping and understanding, caring happy staff , any issues get resolved quickly: my daughter absolutely loves coming to this school she is so happy and her anxiety from a previous school has gone, she looks forward to coming each day.
